The Rotary Food Drive
The Rotary Club of Ridgefield is actively involved in supporting our town’s food pantry. Ridgefield Stop & Shop, the Ridgefield High School Interact Club, Lion’s Heart group, and individual volunteers make our food drives possible. On the first Saturday of every month, Rotary volunteers collect donations in front of Stop & Shop. More volunteers at Ballard Green organize the meeting room and set up the pop-up food pantry.
The pop-up pantry is open, and food is distributed on Monday. Anything that is not distributed that day goes into the food pantry inventory. We have given about $750,000 in food and gift cards since Rotary food drives began in 2013. This continued success of the Food Drive is documented by the fact in 2017 we averaged $9,700 a week in donations, last year nearly $12,000!
